What
do Telecommute jobs pay?
Pay is usually comparable to a non-telecommute
position. If the position is classified as an independent contractor
rather than employee, the pay should be higher since there will
be no benefits provided.
Do
I have to live in the same city as the employer?
That depends
on the job requirements. Full telecommute positions do not require
this. Some positions may require that you be in the same city
in order to attend training or for other reasons. The exact requirements
will be shown in the job details.
How
do I get paid?
The same way
as traditional jobs, by check or direct deposit.
How
does the employer keep track of my hours?
It depends
on the employer and the position. If you are providing some sort
of service that involves you being available to answer incoming
calls, the employer will know the hours you've worked. For other
types of positions you may need to log-on and log-off at a website.
Finally, it may involve you just completing at time card and mailing
it in. Keep in mind that before employers consider allowing a
position to be offered as a telecommute, they have had the job
done in the office and know how much work should be accomplished
in a given amount of time.
Do
I get medical and other benefits when I telecommute?
Once again, it depends on the employer. If not
stated in the job posting, it should be discussed during the interview.
I
live outside the US. Are there telecommute jobs available for
me?
There are some 100% internet based positions
available that can be done world-wide with an internet connection.
You'll have to view the details of each position to see what is
available for your situation.
How
do I know your company is legitimate?
Good question, and you should ask it of
everyone you do business with online. Here
are a few important questions to ask before dealing with any business
online:
Does
the company quickly respond to emails?
Does
the business accept credit cards? Companies out to get your money
and disappear often will not accept credit card payments. They
encourage you to send cash or money orders only. We accept credit
cards via PayPal's Secure Server, and we never have access to
your credit card information. Furthermore, to protect you, we
are a PayPal Verified Business Member, so you can pay with confidence!
Check
with the Better Business Bureau!
You
should know that Membership in the Better Business Bureau is quite
costly and many businesses including us choose not to become Members.
But
the Better Business Bureau can still give you an accurate report
on any business, whether they are Members or not.
To
determine whether a company has complaints filed against them,
you should contact the BBBOnLine.
Don't worry about whether a company is a Member. Instead, avoid
any business that has numerous or unanswered complaints filed
with the Better Business Bureau. Skilltrader LLC's report with
the Better Business Bureau should state that we are not a member,
and that we have no unanswered consumer complaints. The fact that
we are not a member does not in any way prevent you from contacting
the BBB for more information about us.
Note that the BBB grades all companies that have
anything related to "work at home" very poorly due to all the
various scams that are out there. We only offer legitimate telecommute
positions. You will not find any envelope stuffing or other business
opportunities in our listings.
Additionally,
we are members of the World Wide Web Chamber of Commerce and ePublicEye
safe shopping site.
